Gone fishing……

Flower Rock - FTIsland

Hi all,

The blog will be on an indefinite hiatus from today onwards.

I think the blog has finished serving its dues, especially for the past 3 Singapore events. We have succesfully organized quite a few things to represent the country’s fans, so we hope this has made memories for a lot of fans, Singapore fans and overseas fans alike.

But exhaustion kicks in after everything, and we just need to slow down for a (long) while.

I apologize for the sudden decision. But do expect very, very, very minimal blog updates in the future (if not a complete stop of posts, including news/cy translations, scans, screencaps, etc).

In the meantime though, I will still be uploading to youtube periodically, and will still be online on msn and email (@top right corner menu). So if you want to say hi, you can still reach me at msn / youtube PM / email.

Once again, on behalf of all the staff members, I’m really, really, really, really, really sorry for this hiatus.

And as always, a BIG thank you for your tremendous support all this while.
We wouldn’t have lasted so long without all your support and readership.
You guys are the best Primadonnas ^__^

Till we meet again……

Hi guys, it’s been a long time…..
I am still fishing (>.<). Am only back for a while to bring this up on behalf of a friend ^_^

Although this set of scans is not as extensive as the previous set, it was also rather a killer. >.<

But I’ll do anything to keep seeing pictures of the boys everywhere, right? ^_^

Pastel colors dominate this set for the studio shoot (Pretty boys in pink, anyone?), and earthy tones for the candid interview shoot.

Which one do you like better?

Anyway, I’ve talked to friends and seen your comments…. (thank you .< ).

And I’ve decided to keep the normal view of images (instead of the thumbnail view) coz it’s just easier to see all the pictures (although it means slower loading time too >.< ).

Hopefully in the future, there won't be a set as big as the previous set, so it wouldn't take the browsers forever to load ^__^

In the meantime though,… enjoy ~~ ^^

To be honest,…. after editing this batch of magazine scans, I had to take some time off Photoshop for a while.

It was just too many editing O_O. The words “puke blood” have even come up once or twice… heheh.

But after seeing the above resulting pweddy picture of goat, I always get re-energized…. heheh. And the editing always resumes after that. ^_^

This March 2010 edition of FANSxFANS is generous with FT Island (showing how popular the boys are in the land of bubble tea (that is, Taiwan, of course)).

In fact, the magazine dedicated lots of pages in 3 of their editions (or more, I’m not sure) for FT Island alone (i.e. February, March, and April 2010 editions (More scans coming, if I have time ^^))

So, Taiwan fans don’t need to worry of running out of FT Island goodness, at least in these few months ^_^

Because of the sheer quantity of the edited scans, I’m finally using the thumbnail gallery function of this blog.

I realized that, if I hotlink them to my own primanoona server, your browser will die before you can load them all. The last I zipped the entire collection, the size of the zip file reached over 75MB. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

So, erm, I guess it’s better to use the thumbnails this time round ^__^

I personally don’t really like the thumbnail version though, coz I can’t really see the pictures (which is why I’ve always linked the image directly, so I can see the pictures clearly).

But, does this also pose a problem to your loading time too?

Do you prefer thumbnail version? Or the normal version?
Example of thumbnail version = THIS POST
Example of normal version = THIS POST

Let me know at the comments, ok!
(I’ll apply the most preferred version for the next round of scan-posts ^__^)

Awww, we miss you too, Hongki-gun

More scans from Taiwan magazine, “Play” (This time is the March 2010 edition).
Will get the April 2010 scans up, once there is time ^_^

Haiz… don’t you miss them so much? Haiz…..

Heheh,… finally had time to scan this magazine and upload them here ^__^

Had fun editing the individual scans (check the scans nearing the bottom of the post), coz they are all so pweddy…..

Although the graphic editor had a little too much fun with Photoshop for some of the pictures, I did think this is one of the Taiwan magazines (that feature them), that has one of the more interesting photoshoot concept. (I later realized there is another one which is equally, if not more interesting. But hopefully, that’s for another new post altogether ^^)

Anyway, I shan’t talk so much….
Enjoy the scans (there are more under the cut ^^) ~~

The boys of FT Island had a round of fansigning for the Korean fans before the Lunar New Year comes, at Youngdeungpo’s Times Square today.

The fansigning was held in conjunction with the release of the “FT Island’s MBC DVD Collection (The Ultimate Story of Five Treasures)” (Scans of photobook HERE).

As per any normal FT Island event, pretty pictures are to be expected (after the jump), although the coordi might have gotten a little too enthusiastic with some of the boys’ make up. Other than that though, the boys looked good and friendly, so all is good.

Challenge between the Korean Flower Boybands!

Korean boybands, Shinee and FT Island, both visited our shores last weekend and created a frenzy among the fans for the first time ever.

How popular are they in Singapore? Let’s take a look at the figures below: Hundreds of fans fetching them at the airport, thousands gathered at heartland malls, imported albums completely sold out……

Let’s see who wins the challenge!

Inset 1:

SHINee

Pronounced “Shiny”, a shining and dazzling boyband. They are also the juniors of Super Junior, Girls’ Generation and other popular Korean bands.

Age between 17 to 20.

Members were discovered at SM Entertainment audition castings. Able to dance, sing, rap and act.

Inset 2:

FT Island

The name, FT Island, represents Five Treasures, with each of the 5 members being a treasure.

Age between 18 to 20.

Debuted in 2007 and released 3 full albums.

An idol band with talents.

60 secs Q&A with the Media:

What do you want to say to your Singapore fans?

FT Island: We’re very thankful for their support. When we came to Singapore for the first time, we were very shocked to see so many fans waiting for us at the airport, even when it’s nearly 12am.

SHINee: We’re really surprised to see so many people coming to support us.

All of you are born in the 90s and are currently students. Between studies and singing career, which one will you choose?

FT Island: (giving the same answer) Because it’s hard to cope with both, we’ve decided to focus on our career. We do not attend schools regularly anymore, but we do go for some language courses occasionally.

SHINee: Sometimes our schedules are very packed, so we had no choice but to skip certain classes. If we have to make a choice…… (Members started discussing, but couldn’t come to a conclusion so the translator ended it off with “they each have their own choices”).

Would you like to act in Korean dramas?

FT Island: Our vocalist, Lee Hongki, was casted as “Jeremy” in the drama “You’re Beautiful” last year, and all of us were envious of him. However, we believe that Hongki’s participation in the drama helps to bring up the popularity of the band, increasing the exposure of FT Island.

SHINee: If we have a chance to be casted, we’ll be glad to accept the role. We’ve seen some good examples earlier, like, SS501′s popularity went up because of Kim Hyunjoong’s participation in “Boys Over Flowers”.

As idols, have you ever thought of dating?

FT Island: (answered instantly) Yes! Though we do not have girlfriends now, but we do want to get one!

SHINee: Have not thought about this before. Singing career has been our dream since young and we only want to work hard now, so we didn’t think have time to think of other things……

Please introduce yourselves to I-Weekly readers in short.

FT Island: You have to see us for yourselves.

SHINee: We’re a contemporary band (leading trends in pop music, fashion and dance)!

I-Vote: SHINee vs FT Island (Wins!)

FT Island debuted a year earlier than SHINee and they seem to be more experienced in handling questions from the reporter, while SHINee seems to be more shy; FT Island showing the real sides of themselves while SHINee seems to be careful; SHINee was safe guarded by many management crew members while FT Island seems to be more carefree and relaxed. FT Island wins this round!

FT Island vs SHINee

Airport Arrival
FT Island: approx. 300 fans
SHINee: approx. 400 fans

No. of Visits to Singapore
FT Island: 3
SHINee: 1

No. of Events
FT Island: 2 (Fansign & Showcase)
SHINee: 2 (Fansign & 2 Nights of Performance at The Esplanade)

Fanclub Size
FT Island: 1,000 pax
SHINee: 5,000 pax

I-Vote: SHINee (Wins!) vs FT Island

SHINee’s popularity is overwhelming, considering their first visit to Singapore. There were lots of fans chasing them around wherever they go (including airport, hotel lobby, press conference, shopping malls……). FT Island has lots of supporters as well. However, since it’s already their 3rd visit here, they’re no longer new to the fans. SHINee wins this round!

FT Island to perform in Manila

Monday, February 8, 2010

Rising South Korean boyband FTIsland (FTI) performs at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Centre (PICC) on March 6.

SpinManila, Inc., and events and concerts company brings the first all-out live KPop music experience to the Philippine stage.

FTIsland Manila 2010 Showcase is a two-part limited engagement for devoted FTI fans, a.k.a. “Primadonnas.” Just before the boys hit the centre stage, 50 lucky Filipino “Primadonnas” will have a chance to get up-close with the FTIsland members in an exclusive fan meet.

The Manila showcase is part of the popstars’ major Asian tour that started last month in Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

FTIsland is short for “Five Treasure Island” where each member is considered a treasure. The group started in 2007 and its members are Lee Hong Ki, Choi Jong Hoon (leader, guitar, keyboard), Choi Min Hwan (drums), Song Seung Hyun (guitar, vocal, rap) and Lee Jae Jin (bass, vocal rap).

Touted by Arirang as “Korea’s one and only idol band with a combination of talent and skills, “FTIsland‘s members not only sing and dance but play their own instruments as well. Their debut album Cheerful Sensibility earned the sixth slot in South Korea’s best-selling albums in 2007.

Their leader, Choi Jong Hoon plays the piano and the guitar. Lee Hong Ki is the group’s lead vocalist. Bassist Lee Jae Jin became popular when he was cast in a prominent role in the drama Unstoppable Marriage. The youngest in the group, Choi Min Hwan plays the drums. Song Seung Hyun is FTIsland’s latest member, having replaced former member Oh Won Bin.

Their first album Cheerful Sensibility has 13 songs divided into two parts, the Emotional Chapter that is more inclined to rock ballad and FTIsland Chapter that includes upbeat pop and rock songs.

The debut sold around 80,000 copies, making it the sixth best-selling album of 2007 in Korea. They won more music awards within their debut year, which includes Best New Male Group in MNet/KM Music Festival and Best New Group in Asia Song Festival.

The FTIsland Manila 2010 Showcase is sponsored by SpinManila, Inc. and fangirlasia.com, co-presented by Datzentertainment, FNC Music and North Park Groups of Companies. Media partners are MYX, the official music channel, U92 and Jam 88.3.

Ticket prices are P2,500, P3,500 and P5,000. Ticketing is open at www.ftislandmanila.com and www.fangirlasia.com.

Flowerboy band, FT Island, held a successful solo concert in Thailand last weekend.

As part of their Asia tour, FT Island held a concert in Bangkok, Thailand at Indoor Stadium Huamark, on 6th February, 6.30pm (local time). Their concert attracted about 4,000 fans, creating a huge success for their Asia tour.

Cheers and applause from the 4,000 audience crowd went non-stop from the start of the concert for 2 whole hours. FT Island started their concert with the song “Missing U” and also sang several other hit songs like “Send Away” and ”I Hope“, working the crowd into a frenzy.

Even after leaving the stage with encore songs like “Still/As Ever” and “Primadonna“, the Thailand fans refused to leave their seats and continued cheering for the boys.

This performance in Thailand is part of FT Island‘s Asia tour, which has already started since end of last year. FT Island started with performances in Japan and is planning to tour several other Asia countries. They also have plans to perform in Hong Kong, Japan and other major cities.

FT Island‘s popularity in Thailand started since their debut times. With the broadcast of SBS drama “You’re Beautiful” in Thailand, Lee Hongki‘s popularity has soared even higher.

Lee Jaejin, Choi Minhwan and Choi Jonghoon carried out promotional activities under the unit group name, FT.triple, while Song Seunghyun is active in other entertainment programmes. The multi-talented FT Island will focus on their Asia tour for the time being.
